Bandung artists dominate
award ceremony
BANDUNG: Host artists have dominated the Bandung Contemporary Art Awards (BaCAA) by winning three of four awards.The winners were announced over the weekend with the first prize going to Yusuf Ismail of Bandung through his video titled Eat Like Andy. He was entitled to Rp 100 million (US$10,900) in cash prizes. Coming in second was Eddy
Susanto, a graphic designer from Yogyakarta, who presented Java of Durer.
Bagus Pandega and Octora Chan, both from Bandung, took third and fourth prizes with their respective art pieces Autism Spectrum and Laura in Paradise.
The second edition of the competition featured 485 participants who were shortlisted into 46 nominations before being reduced to 25 finalists.
The judge panel comprised Agus Suwage (artist), Mella Jaarsma (artist), Carla Bianpoen (art journalist), Hendro Wiyanto (art curator), Rifky Effendy (art curator), Syakieb Sungkar (art collector), and Wiyu Wahono (art collector).
